The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas~Rachel Holbert-Jones

Of course, my blog wouldn't be complete without talking about the casino that my fiance's grandfather owned and one that we visited and were thoroughly pleased with. James inherited his grandfather's casino The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas before I did so that was our first stop. We enjoyed it very much and it gave me an opportunity to show James some of the sights of Las Vegas and my favorite spot Nevada State Route 375 also known as the extraterrestrial highway which supposedly UFO's have been spotted. The only thing I spotted was a couple of cows. I've driven the highway from start to finish every time I've visited Vegas. The first time I started in Tonopah NevadaQueen Of The Silver Camps around 5 AM. There is only one truck stop there that is 24 hours and it's quite noisy. It was winter and the water in the bathroom was ice cold. And since I had to have some caffeine at that early hour I bought a mountain dew most likely. The downside is there is no place to stop until you get to another store about 100 miles outside Las Vegas. For the life of me I can't remember that town's name. It's a small grocery store that closes about 10 PM and since that was the only place for food I got a sandwich and chips there, my old standby when there is nothing else. My next stop was the Love's Truck Stop on the outskirts of Las Vegas which every time I've stopped there it is quite busy and has a nice Subway Sandwich Shop which is my favorite go to fast food place. I remember there is not a lot of parking there and it too, is quite noisy with all of the tractor trailers idling especially when it's cold. The next time I drove Nevada state highway 375 I started in Las Vegas and drove to Tonopah and it was very, very cold the last time I visited. It was so cold, in fact, that I could hardly stand to get out of my car and take pictures. I drove through Carson City Nevada before making my way up to Lake Tahoe California. Upon leaving and going back through Carson City I got into a car accident. Thankfully, not too bad but much worse than I liked.

The main reason I left was because they were calling for a foot of snow and it still had several inches from the previous snow and I in no way wanted to hang around and get stuck in that. My Chevy Impala did great in snow but the car I was in I wasn't so sure about. So I left. And made my way back to Texas.  For Texas travel information go here

Next time I'll talk about my travels in Texas and more about my grandfather's holdings. By Rachel Holbert-Jones ***** sassygrrl32
